How Communities Can Prepare for Census 2010

Asking just seven or so questions of all residents (one of the shortest census questionnaires in U.S. history), the 2010 Census form will take most households about ten minutes to complete and will result in a simpler, less costly and more accurate census.

What can Hoosiers do to ensure these forms are filled out and returned?

Set up a complete count committee in your area
Identify hard-to-count populations
Work closely with populations that are reluctant to be counted (minorities, youth, immigrants, etc.)
Publicity (through local media, word of mouth, etc.)

What can local governments in Indiana do to ensure every address gets a questionnaire?

Participate in LUCA: This program ended in April 2008. Thanks to the 55 counties, 203 incorporated places and 18 townships in Indiana that participated!
